At 16:39 on Sunday 26th May Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a male who had fallen down a steep banking near to Shore Chapel.

29 CVSRT members were available to respond immediately and deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident.

YAS paramedics, assisted by CVSRT members, kept the casualty warm, assessed, and provided medical care to treat the casualty’s injuries. The casualty was then packaged in a winter cas bag and stretchered a short distance to an awaiting ambulance for transfer to hospital.

At 17:17 on Saturday 25th May Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a male with a lower leg injury.

Due to CVSRT members already attending an incident at Otley Chevin, Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team (HVMRT) were requested to assist. Three CVSRT members were also available to respond immediately and deployed direct to the incident to assist with the evacuation.

CVSRT members responded direct from Otley Chevin but were stood down enroute as sufficient resources were already on scene.

YAS paramedics, assisted by HVMRT, assessed and provided medical care to treat the casualty’s injuries. HVMRT and CVSRT members then packaged and stretchered him to an awaiting ambulance for transfer to hospital.

At 16:23 on Saturday 25th May Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a female who had fallen sustaining leg injuries while walking at Otley Chevin.

16 CVSRT members were available to respond immediately and deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident.

YAS paramedics, assisted by CVSRT members, kept the casualty warm, assessed and provided medical care to treat her injuries. The casualty was placed on to a scoop, and had a pelvic binder and box splint put on before being packaged in a winter cas bag.

CVSRT members then transferred the casualty by stretcher to an awaiting ambulance for onward travel to hospital.

During evacuation of the casualty CVSRT received a further request to assist YAS at Ramsden Wood Reservoir – see Incident #1167.

Following an on-scene debrief team members responded to Ramsden Wood Reservoir. However, they were stood-down enroute as Holme Valley MRT had been drafted in to deal with the incident supported by other available CVSRT members.

Enroute back to The Rescue Post team members in Calder Mobile 1 came across a two vehicle road traffic collision near Cock Hill, Keighley Road. All three casualties were assessed by CVSRT members, before West Yorkshire Police and YAS took control of the scene. Thankfully all three persons involved sustained only minor cuts and bruises.

At 09:19 on Saturday 25th May Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a female who had fallen into, and been rescued from, Rochdale Canal, Brearley.

14 CVSRT members were available to respond immediately and deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident.

YAS paramedics assessed and provided medical care to treat the casualty’s multiple injuries. CVSRT members packaged and stretchered her a short distance along the canal tow path.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance arrived on scene and carried out a further assessment of the casualty, before she was transferred to Helimed for the flight to hospital.

At 16:41 on Tuesday 14 May Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a fallen female close to The Top Brink Inn, Todmorden.

27 CVSRT members were available to respond immediately and deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident.

A YAS Rapid Response Vehicle Paramedic provided medical care to treat the casualty’s lower leg injury. CVSRT members then packaged and stretchered her a short distance across fields to an ambulance for further treatment and transfer to hospital.

Following stand down of the incident the team attended training at Baitings Reservoir to practice setting up anchors and belaying on steep ground.

Thanks to Top Brink Inn - Pub and Restaurant for the use of their car park for our vehicles during the incident.
