At 21:47 on Thursday 27th June Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a male who had sustained a lower leg injury.

17 CVSRT members deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident near Elland.

YAS paramedics, assisted by CVSRT members, assessed and provided medical care to treat the casualty’s injuries. The casualty was provided with pain relief and their injured leg immobilised using a box split.

The casualty was then packaged and transferred, using a wheeled stretcher, to an awaiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

At 12:33 on Thursday 27th June Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the evacuation of a female who has slipped and sustained a lower leg fracture.

15 CVSRT members deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident on farmland near Horsforth.

YAS paramedics, assisted by CVSRT members, assessed and provided medical care to treat the casualty’s injuries. The casualty was provided with pain relief and their injured leg immobilised using a box split.

The casualty was then packaged and transferred, using a wheeled stretcher, to an awaiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

At 20:59 on Wednesday 26th June Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to assist with the location and evacuation of an injured fell runner competing in the Calder Valley Fell Runners Cragg Vale fell race.

22 CVSRT members deployed in team vehicles or direct to the incident on Erringden Moor, near Mytholmroyd.

While awaiting our arrival several fellow runners and race marshals provided spare clothing to keep the casualty warm and comfortable. The first two CVSRT members on scene quickly located the casualty, assessed their injuries and provided casualty care.

Other members soon arrived with the necessary equipment to provide pain relief and immobilise the casualties injured legs.

The casualty was packaged and evacuated by stretcher a short distance to a team vehicle for transfer to an awaiting ambulance.
