CVSRT - December 2024
It’s official!

One of Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team’s (CVSRT) very own volunteers, Paul Taylor, will once again brave the hills this winter as he takes on the 160-mile Montane Spine Mountain Rescue Team Challenge North event.

After an incredible effort on last year’s Challenger South route, Paul is returning on Monday, 13th January 2025, to tackle the North route. Not only is he taking on this monumental challenge, but he also had the courage to make the announcement on Friday the 13th—how’s that for boldness?

For those who are superstitious, we held off sharing the news until today—just in case!

This is a truly incredible event, and we can’t wait to cheer Paul on next month.

But that’s not all: Paul is also raising funds to support CVSRT, specifically to help us complete extensive repairs on one of our essential response vehicles.

__________
Again? Again….?!!

We’ve ONE month to go!… until my attempt on the Montane Spine Mountain Rescue Team Challenge North

January this year I raised £1760 from generous donors to the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team and I came in 2nd within the Mountain Rescue Team category (with a 17th place overall. I was chuffed but utterly exhausted...)

The team are currently beginning the process of re-fitting an existing vital emergency response vehicle, CM1, and any donations would, as always, be very gratefully received.

So here's some Moor News

Starting on Monday January 13th 2025, I will be joining fellow Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW) colleagues... AGAIN! This time to attempt the Montane Spine Mountain Rescue

Team Challenge North. This is a 160-mile race along the Pennine Way between Hardraw, near Hawes in North Yorkshire to Kirk Yetholm over the Scottish Borders with a time limit of 108 hours in a category specifically for members of Mountain Rescue teams.

We will be setting off from Hardraw at 8 a.m. on Monday January 13th 2025 and you can track my progress along with all the other competitors’ via individual trackers that we’ll be carrying (https://thespinerace.com).

I am hoping to raise funds for Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team (CVSRT) as part of this challenge, and if you would like to support the team you can do so by visiting the Givey fundraising page www.givey.com/paultaylorspinemrtchallengenorth2025

Good luck to ALL the Spine participants early in the new year. #MontaneSpine2025
